Auto PiP – a Safari extension
A Safari extension for macOS that puts the playing video into Picture-in-Picture when you switch tabs.
About the project
Auto PiP watches videos on the page and, when you switch tabs or minimise the window, opens the playing video in the system Picture-in-Picture window. When you come back, the video returns to its place. The extension menu lets you turn off the automatic mode or the return, or open the mini window manually. It works with videos in Shadow DOM and frames, makes no network requests and collects no data. This was my first experience of coding in Swift: it powers the macOS app that installs the extension in Safari.
